The E-series pads have nonwoven material on only one side of the pad.

Here is How Heat Therapy Works

Normal Blood Flow

Heat can affect you in several ways, all working together to bring about your desired result. It begins with the neurological. Perhaps rooted in the ancient past, when cold brought death. Heat often brings a feeling of safety and well-being, feelings that help you relax.

Heat also penetrates below the surface of your skin, where it causes your blood vessels to open up. Your blood flows better, bringing more oxygen and nutrients your cells need to repair themselves. This increase also helps your muscles relax. Tension, along with its accompanying pain, fall away.

Studies confirm that heat therapy works. One finding is that continuous low-level heat may relieve certain types of muscle pain better than ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Another discovery - combining warmth with stretches might help improve flexibility.

Blood Flow with Heat

However, there are situations where heating is not the best course of action. Open sores, fresh wounds, and swollen areas will get worse with heat.

Cold Therapy Has its Place

When injured, the body responds by creating inflammation or swelling. Swelling can be painful and often hampers movement. Cold reduces blood flow, which slows swelling. Doctors often use cold in the first forty-eight hours after an injury.

Cold also causes the pain threshold to go up, bringing a sense of relief after injury.

Portable On-Demand Relief

From the comfort of your bed to your favorite recliner, you can take this handy unit anywhere you want with ease. The comfortable handle and lightweight (just six and a half pounds when empty) make picking your unit up easy. Its compact size fits comfortably in a corner anywhere else that is out of the way. It even snuggles on the back floor or in the trunk of almost any vehicle.

Therapy with the Push of a Button

Select between hot and cold with ease. Choose one of four temperature settings ranging from 50 to 107 degrees Fahrenheit. You can even lock in your selection so that your patients (or others) cannot make a change. Once you have set the temperature, pick between 20 minutes, 30 minutes, or continuous operation.

Built-in Heat Protection

The device comes with a built-in thermal sensor. If the water reaches 120 degrees F, then the heater turns off to keep the user from being burned. After the water cools, the heater kicks back on to maintain proper warmth.

Self-Contained Storage

The unit has compartments for both its cord and hose. That keeps them from becoming twisted or crushed. It also prevents them from being tripping hazards while not in use.
