Similarly, the Detecto 8500 Portable Stretcher Scale with Column has a foldable, swivel weight indicator column that can be quickly moved with its release lever. Both scales can fit through most typical doorways, and most common stretcher types will fit onto the mats.

How to Use

Place the scale onto the floor. After installing six batteries or plugging the mat into a socket with an AC Adapter, connect the weight indicator to the mat. Then calibrate the device by inserting a small tool through the calibration switch's access hole. Wait for the words "SETUP" and "SCALE" to appear on the screen. Remove the small tool from the access hole.

After the calibration has finished, press the zero or bottom left key to set the scale to zero, and the device should be ready to weigh any upcoming patients.

To weigh a patient, simply move them or have them walk onto the scale, and take note of their weight. To weigh them without the weight of the wheelchair or stretcher being included, push the "T" or Tare button and move an empty wheelchair or stretcher onto the scale. Then push the zero button. Users can also push the Tare button, enter in the already-known weight of the stretcher or wheelchair, and push the clear button to remove the unneeded weight from the equation.
