Adlens® is an innovator of Variable Focus Eyewear. Based in Oxford, United Kingdom, Adlens began in 2005 with the manufacturing of Refractive Vision correction devices. Adlens makes Instant Eyewear that can be used for emergencies or when permanent glasses or contact lenses are damaged and a temporary solution is necessary. Kept as a spare, Adlens Eyewear is an instant solution for travel, outdoor activities and emergencies. For individuals that have flutuating vision, Adlens Corrective Lenses can be focused to their changing needs. Adlens Optical Wear sets itself apart from other corrective lens manufacturers by the adjustable nature of their optical lenses. Adjustable tinted lens options by Adlens also provide an ideal solution to serve as standby corrective lens sunglasses.
Adlens is a manufacturer of corrective lenses for improved vision. Instead of making the common static lenses so abundant in today’s corrective vision market, Adlens manufactures dynamic lenses that are adjustable to your needs at any given time, enabling better vision quality and more control. Adlens Corrective Lenses are sold under the brand names of Adlens Adjustables™, Adlens Sundials™, Emergensee Glasses™, Hemisphere Sunglasses™, John Lennon™ and John Lennon Sunglasses™. The Adlens company has innovated with multiple technologies to bring dynamic corrective lenses to the public. Currently, Adlens uses two new variable focus lens technologies with a third still under development.
The first Adlens' technology uses two wave-shaped polycarbonate plates that glide across one another to allow the user to focus the lenses to their individual needs. This technology allows an entire family to use the same eye wear to back-up the permanent prescription lenses they normally use. This enables many individuals with different adjustable focus needs to benefit from a single “back-up” solution.
The second technology provided by the Adlens Corporation is fluid-injection corrective lenses. These lenses employ a chamber between polycarbonate plates. A fluid is injected into the chamber where an elastic membrane in the chamber bows outward or inward to change the focus of the lens to individual needs.
The third technology, still under development, mimics the eye’s natural dynamic behavior.
