Lift Chair FAQWhat is a lift chair?Getting in and out of a chair can be a difficult task for many of the elderly. Lift chairs are specially designed chairs that use an electric motor to gently lift the person out of the chair. Lift chairs look like typical chairs, because the motor is hidden underneath the chair and every chair is available in different colors. Each lift chair has easy-to-use controls to adjust the movement of the chair.Back to top What is a seat assist?Seat assists perform the same function as lift chairs, but the lifting mechanism is not actually a part of the chair. Instead, the lifting mechanism is beneath a seat cushion. We carry both power and hydraulic seat assist, both of which weigh under 20 lbs. That makes these seat assists portable and easy to store. Most are water-proof and have machine-washable covers. Seat assists are perfect for people who are fairly active, but have a little trouble getting out of chairs.Back to top What should I look for in a lift chair? The first thing to consider is how the lift chair will be used. Obviously the lift chair will be used for seating, but will the person be sleeping in it? If so, consider purchasing a multi-position chair, as it can be difficult to sleep in a 2-position lift chair. Sleeping may be possible in a 3-position lift chair, but you'll want to discuss it with the person who will use the chair before purchasing, especially if the person is particular about how they site. Otherwise, the chairs are similar are all durable constructed. The next thing to consider is the weight capacity of the individual. Many of our lift chairs have weight capacities between 300-400 lbs. However, our large, extra-wide chairs have a weight capacity of 500 lbs. If you are uncertain of the exact weight, select a lift chair with a higher weight capacity than your best guess. Additionally, consider purchasing an extra-wide chair for persons who are obese or overweight. After you've selected the appropriate number of positions and weight capacity, select a color that matches the area it will be placed. Each product page has color swatches to give you a better idea of the appearance of the chair. The final thing to consider is the delivery method. For an additional charge, Golden Technologies will arrange for one of four types of special delivery for the lift chair: Curbside, Remote Curbside, Residential and Whiteglove. The following are the benefits of each method:

If the lift chair has difficulties, one or both of the lights will turn off to provide a better indication of the problem. For example, if the light on the power cord turns off, but the light on the hand control is still on, the power transformer may need to be replaced.Back to top Will my insurance/Medicare/Medicaid reimburse me for my lift chair purchase?Insurance/Medicare/Medicaid benefits vary, so it is important to talk to your insurance/medicare/medicaid representative about coverage. in general, patients must be able to demonstrate severe arthritis in their hip or knee or have a severe neuromuscular disease.
