Defib Pads, by 3M, are large, bold pads that is used in conjunction with defibrillator paddles. They conduct a quick, effective charge for individuals who are under cardiac arrest. The defibrillator pads are great accessories for any defibrillator station and are easy to deploy and position.
Defib Pads save time where every second is essential when it comes to regulating a patient's heartbeat in instances of defibrillation and cardioversion. The ready-to-use pads are impregnated with electro-conductive gel and are supported by a porous non-woven fabric. They are faster to apply than gels and creams in multiple cardiac arrest situations and, with their bright orange color, are easy to see.
Their time saving properties are evident. To deploy, the package is simply opened and the pad placed on the patient, following the normal defibrillation protocal. They peel off easily with no slippery residue to interfere with CPR -- and better yet, no cleanup.
Their safety is also ensured because of one: their bold orange color to determine accurate pad positioning. Another safety feature is the self-contained pads eliminate "gel bridging," which can cause severe skin trauma or burns to the patient or the one using the defibrillator. Because there is no gel bridging, it also ensures that the full energy is delivered to the patient. The pads also help reduce the occurrence of pitting and corrosion on the paddles.
