Skil-Care 306110 Cushioned Hand Restraints
Mitten Restraints are specially designed hand control mitts for elder care used to prevent patients from scratching, picking or bruising other patients or themselves. Manufactured by Skil-Care, this hand restraint comes with tie straps to limit the patient’s arm movement if required, but may be used without the straps. The hand mitt restraint is made with Cool Line Mesh that allows air circulation and visual inspection by the caregiver. The design helps to prevent unwanted perspiration, allowing the patient to be more comfortable. The hand restraint is also cushioned with a ¾-inch think foam padding on the grip side to help prevent injury and promote greater comfort. The hand restraint mitts can be used in bed or on a wheelchair. These hand mitts for elderly have an easy and convenient closure instead of the traditional and cumbersome shoelace ties.
Hand restraints are used in nursing homes and care facilities to protect patients who remove their bandages and dressings, pick and scratch at wounds, or grab and pull out feeding tubes, catheters or naso-gastric tubes. The padded mitt restraints fit both the left and right hands with the palm of the hand facing the padding. The back of the hand faces the mesh. The included safety straps go around the patients wrist for certain patients that require additional restraint.
