Resting Tab Electrodes

The Welch Allyn Resting Tab Electrodes are electrode tabs a bit different than most tabs you may find on the market. Resting electrode tabs are used to measure and take readings from a patient when in a calm and relaxed state. The fundamental reading can detect a patient's natural rhythm at a non-exhausted state. These types of readings are used to find a base for patients to find a starting point from which to compare other readings to and are usually performed by trained staff.

The Welch Allyn Resting Electrodes (45008-0000) comes in a square shape and is sized for adults. A larger size is better to use when connecting the electrode tabs to an adult as it can obtain more accurate readings. Using the correct size may not seem like much of a difference in the size of the electrode tab, but the device can pick up on these readings and display incorrect information; rendering your results unusable.

Being able to reposition the tabs can be accommodated for several times. The adhesive will eventually wear out if the area is not cleaned properly by removing hair with a razor (such as the Medi-Pak Disposable Razor) and dead skin with a prep wipe; however, the tabs can be repositioned a few times if needed during training sessions before they start to lose their adhesive coating. Note that this does not mean the tab should be used again with another patient. To reduce cross-contamination, you should only use new electrode tabs with each patient, as using the same tabs from prior sessions can cause infections or bacteria to transfer to the new patient.

It is crucial to note that the tabs are not radiolucent and they should not be used during a radiology session.
