Medihoney is an advanced Wound Care Dressing made by Derma Sciences. Medihoney is formulated with medical grade honey often referred to as Manuka Honey. Medihoney is used for moderate to heavy exudating wounds or burn wounds. Medihoney Dressings contain 80 to 100% active Leptospermum Honey, depending upon the dressing chosen. Leptospermum Honey has been shown to have treatment properties which promote an optimal healing environment for chronic wounds and burns. The high osmolarity of the Medihoney Dressings help to cleanse the wound and remove devitalized tissue. Medihoney® Wound Dressings and Medihoney Paste Ointment can be used in all stages of wound healing and can also be used as a component of wound bed preparation.
Medihoney contains Leptospermum Honey from New Zealand. Leptospermum Honey posseses characteristics that promote healing for burn wounds, ulcers and provide management options for chronic and acute wounds. Medihoney Dressings are particularly effective with hard to heal wounds and burns. Leptospermum Honey within Medihoney Wound Dressings helps to debride wounds and keep wounds clean of necrotic tissue. The presence of wound fluid, blood and tissue does not happen the healing effects of Medihoney Dressings or Medihoney Ointment Cream.

- Medihoney Gel Dressing - Ointment Cream for wound treatment with hydrocolloid paste.For use in hard-to-dress wounds and other wounds that would normally require a gel or paste. An optional accessory applicator tip comes in each box of Medihoney Ointment Cream Gel to help facilitate application into tough-to-reach areas. The active leptospermum honey content for the Medihoney Gel Dressing is 100%, the highest content of any of the Medihoney Dressings.
- Medihoney Calcium Alginate Dressing - burn dressing in various sizes. As wound fluid enters this Medihoney Dressing, the honey is released while the dressing absorbs and forms a gel. This Medihoney Calcium Alginate Dressing is used in the same manner as any typical calcium alginate or other gelling fiber wound dressing. The active leptospermum honey content for the Medihoney Calcium Alginate Dressing is 95%.
- Medihoney Adhesive Dressing - non-adhering pad with an adhesive border. The Medihoney Adhesive Dressing is a Honeycolloid Dressing with two size options--2 x 2 inch and 4-1/2 x 4-1/2 inch.
