Description

What is Medigrip?

The Medigrip Elasticated Tubular Bandage is a secondary, Tube-Shaped Wound Dressing that has a wide variety of applications. This item is made primarily to provide primary dressing securement and stabilization. If used in double layers, it also provides light compression, which can help increase blood flow, reduce swelling, and hasten healing. This combination of stabilization and mild compression makes it a great option for sprains, strains, and dislocations, especially when used in extra layers. In addition, it works wonderfully for circulation-related disorders such as venous leg syndrome, lymphedema, and edema along with the swelling that arises with these conditions. This product can also be used for many parts of the body. These include hands, limbs, and joints, such as ankles knees.

This Wound Care Product has several other benefits. The application process for Medigrip tubular bandages is very simple and quick and no wrapping is involved. Its elastic nature makes it easy to stretch over the limb or hand. This product also comes in several sizes and can be cut-to-size for a perfect fit. It can also be worn for up to seven days, so fewer changes are necessary. This can also translate to money saved.

This product contains latex. Users who are allergic to latex should instead purchase a latex-free product such as Surgigrip by Derma Sciences.

Product Guide

How to Use this Product for the Forearm (with Compression)

  1. Remove the product from the packaging.
  2. Fold the bandage's length in half.
  3. To measure, lay the bandage across the span of the user's injured arm. Start at the knuckle closest to the wrist.
  4. Pinch the bandage between your fingers right below the elbow to mark where the cut will be made.
  5. Cut the bandage to the proper length.
  6. Near the folded over top, (about an inch down) cut a half-circle-shaped hole in the bandage, big enough that the thumb will fit through the circular holes when the bandage is unfolded. Two holes will be created.
  7. Slip the bandage over the hand. Fit the thumb through the first hole and stretch half of the bandage up the arm to right below the elbow. The other half of the bandage will be hanging off of the hand.
  8. Take the other half of the bandage and stretch it back over and around the arm until it sits right below the elbow. Fit the thumb into the second hole. The bandage will now be doubled over the arm for added security and mild compression.

How to Measure for Medigrip

  • Leg Use: Measure the circumference widest point of the calf for calf or full leg use.
  • Arm Use: Measure around the part of the forearm with the largest diameter for bandages that will cover the forearm or length of the arm.
  • Hand Use: Measure around the metacarpophalangeal joint.
