The Maxorb Extra CMC/Alginate Wound Dressing Advantage

Maxorb Extra is a highly-absorbent CMC and woven alginate-based wound dressing. It is a great choice for wounds with moderate to heavy exudation. This product can be used on a wide variety of wound types that include several types of ulcers, first and second-degree burns, partial to full-thickness wounds, surgical wounds, and more. This dressing conforms to the wound bed to keep bacteria and other foreign bodies out. Because it is made primarily with alginate, it absorbs and retains moisture to maintain a moist wound environment. The CMC aspect of this dressing helps turn wound exudate into a gel for even moisture retention that helps prevent maceration (unhealthy whitening and breakdown of the skin).

This product retains its strength, even when it is saturated. This means it is easy to remove in a single piece and that there is a reduced chance of residual dressing material being left behind in the wound bed upon its removal. This dressing comes in several sheet sizes and both sheet and rope versions are available. Medline Maxorb Extra CMC/Alginate Sheet Wound Dressings are a great option for surface wounds, while rope dressings are suited for cavity wounds. These products can be cut to the size of the wound for a better fit.
