Uncomplicated Enteral Feeding
The Bard Jejunal Feeding Gastric Decompression Tube works in conjunction with a feeding pump to provide nutrients to those who are not able to consume solid food. The tube allows enteral feeding formula to be deposited directly into the jejunal in the small intestines in slow and controlled amounts to avoid discomfort. The decompression port provides decompression to reduce the chance of bloating or abdominal distension. The decompression can happen during or after feeding.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is the difference between a J-tube and a G-J tube?
A jejunal tube (J-tube) such as the Bard Gastric Decompression Tube provides both enteral feeding and gastric decompression. It delivers food and medicine to the small intestines with the ability to provide decompression at the same time. Decompressing the digestive tract helps prevent abdominal distension, which may cause discomfort for the patient.
A gastrostomy-jejunostomy tube (G-J tube) occupies the stomach and small intestine at the same time. The J-tube portion is to allow food and medicine to be fed into the small intestine. The G-tube portion vents air and drainage from the stomach. This port can also be used for enteral feeding, but most feeding should be done through the J-tube port.
How long does a jejunal tube last?
It is recommended that tubes be changed approximately once every 3 months.
Does this tube contain latex?
No.
Can the tube be reused after removal?
No. This tube (Bard 733) should not be reused or repackaged. Doing so may result in patient or user infection.
