Absorbency Levels
Enluxtra is a multifunctional wound dressing. It performs multiple wound healing functions simultaneously. Constructed with a synthetic superabsorbent and with hydrogel polymers, this dressing promotes optimal moisture levels in and around the wound.1 Medical studies find that "Self-adaptive wound dressings are effective in absorbing and retaining exudate (no sideways spread) for multiple days, even in large, copiously draining wounds.... Absorbency Comparison
[Self-Adapteive Wound Dressing] SAWD is the first and only self-regulating superabsorbent synthetic polymer dressing with adaptive absorbency and a built-in adaptive hydration function. When SAWD is in direct contact with the wound bed, it can sense the underlying tissue's physical condition and adapts its local function to provide optimal treatment simultaneously for different wound zones. SAWD vertically absorbs exudate in exuding wound zones, while hydrating dry wound zones, and moving slough, necrotic tissue, debris and harmful bacteria away from the wound. - Do not use dressing if opened or damaged pouch occurs prior to use.
- Inspect wound frequently for signs of infection.
Enluxtra Wound Dressing Application Steps
Step-by-Step
- Prepare two small strips of medical grade adhesive tape.
- Temporarily secure opposite corners of the dressing to hold it in place and prevent it from slipping off.
- Apply a secondary dressing to fix the primary dressing in place.
- Or, use a transparent film dressing such as Tegaderm, Opsite, or similar. The film must completely cover Enluxtra and extend beyond the edges for at least 1 inch.
How to Apply Enluxtra
- Cleanse the wound with saline solution or sterile water.
- Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
- Select the dressing size to overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least ½ inch to 2 inches. The dressing will shrink as it absorbs wound fluid and starts gelling.
- Apply a dry primary dressing to the wound.
- Fix the dressing with an appropriate secondary dressing.
Combine Dressings for Larger Wounds
Recommended Wear Time
- Sloughy or infected wounds: 1 to 2 days.
- High drainage or slough: 2 to 3 days.
- All other wounds: 3 to 7 days.
Primary Dressing Administration
How to Remove
Lift one corner of the dressing backing and slowly peel back until the backing is completely removed from the wound.
