Biobrane is a Biocomposite Wound Dressing made with new biosynthetic technology used for treating wounds. This temporary Wound Care Dressing is constructed with an ultrathin silicone film that is semipermeable. Manufactured by Smith & Nephew, Biobrane Biocomposite Silicone Film Dressing is made with a nylon fabric that is partially imbedded into the film. Biobrane is recommended to treat and clean partial thickness burn wounds and donor sites. Use of the Biobrane Biosynthetic Dressing takes place until epithelialization occurs. The nylon fabric provides a complex 3-D structure of tri-filament thread. Bonded to this tri-filament is procine dermal collagen. This Collagen Dressing maintains a moist wound environment to promote healing.
