Allevyn Hydrocellular Heel Dressing

Allevyn Heel Non-Adhesive Hydrocellular Dressing by Smith and Nephew is a highly versatile cup-shaped dressing designed to comfortably fit the unique curve of the heel, and maintain a moist wound environment for rapid healing. Additionally, the thick padding of this foam dressing is non-adhering which helps to reduce trauma upon removal, and provides increased comfort and protection from skin breakdown. The outer layer features a specialized film that is bacteria proof and friction-reducing for ultimate protection against infection and tissue breakdown. Allevyn Heel Dressing is ideal for ulcers (venous, arterial, diabetic), pressure sores, surgical incisions, surgical excisions, and burns (1st and 2nd degree).

Allevyn Foam Heel Dressing is constructed of unique tri-laminate polyurethane hydrocellular foam technology absorbes and holds moisture within to provide a balanced environment for wound healing and exudate absorption. This non-adhering hydrocellular foam pad is 5.9 millimeters thick to relieve standing pressure and help prevent tissue breakdown. The outer film protects the delicate wound environment from infectious bacteria and fluid. Allevyn heel is safe to wear for up to 7 days.

Caution: Do not use with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions (e.g. Dakin) or hydrogen peroxide solutions, as these can break down the absorbent hydrocellular component of the dressing. In rare cases, reddening of the skin around the wound has occurred following use. In some cases this is related to irritation of fragile skin, in others wound exudate remaining in contact with the peri-wound skin for prolonged periods seems to be the cause. Infrequently, cases of sensitivity to the dressing have also been reported. If redness or sensitization occur, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Not indicated for use on third degree burns.
