Part of ResMed's bilevel flow generator line, the VPAP III is specifically designed for patients who are unable to tolerate CPAP and APAP treatments or who require ventilation therapy. Proven effective in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, the VPAP III uses patented Vsync and TiControl technology to provide excellent synchrony between patient and machine. BiLevel flows works by providing two levels of pressure: one for inhalation (IPAP) and a lower pressure during exhalation (EPAP), and the more synchronized the pressures are with your personal breathing pattern, the more comfortable you will be. This is where the Vsync and TiControl technology come into play, using proprietary algorithms to maintain 'reliable breath triggering and cyclying performance.' In other words, it matches the high and low pressure cycles of the machine to each time you inhale or exhale so that you will not feel out-of-sync with their VPAP even when normal leaks occur. ResMed also created the IPAP MAX and IPAP MIN feature to allow you to customize the maximum and minimum allowable inspiratory times, respectively. The IPAP MAX protects your patients from prolonged inspiratory times related to mask or mouth leak. While the IPAP MIN helps eliminate shortened inspiratory times, especially in patients experiencing ALS or post-polio symptoms, as well as preventing underventilation and the feeling of waking up - gasping for air. The VPAP III also fully integrates with inexpensive, easy-to-use, plug-and-play, ResMed heated or passover humidification solutions to enhance the comfort level of the therapy.
