The PMV 2001 (Purple) (15mm I.D./23mm O.D.) is identical to the PMV 2000 except for its color. This valve is bright purple to facilitate staff awareness and monitoring of patients while using the PMV. It can be used in-line with mechanical ventilation in conjunction with non-disposable, flexible rubber tubing. Product Number: PMV2001What are the advantages of the PMV 2000/PMV 2001 over the PMV 005? The PMV 2000 (Clear) and the PMV 2001 (Purple) are Low Profile - Lower Resistance Tracheostomy and Ventilator Speaking Valves. They are lightweight and smaller in size than the PMV 005 and the PMV 007, and open easier during inhalation. The PMV 2000/PMV 2001 can be used directly on the 15mm hub of a tracheostomy tube as well as in-line with the ventilator using non-disposable, flexible rubber tubing. These low profile valves can be used with the PMV Secure-It(tm) (packaged with each of the low profile valves). The Secure-It(tm) allows the PMV to remain connected to the tracheostomy tube tie to prevent loss. Patients who are on low flow oxygen also have the benefit of being able to attach the PMA 2000 Oxygen Adapter (sold separates) to the PMV2000 and PMV 2001. This adapter clips onto the side of either valve and allows for delivery of oxygen up to 6 L/min. The PMV 2000 (Clear) is designed to be less visible for use with patients who are able to provide self care and ambulatory. The PMV 2001 (Purple) is designed to have high visibility and is usually the valve of choice for pediatric patients, facilities and patients who are care dependent in the home. The bright color makes it easier for staff/caregivers to identify the PMV while it is being used and easier to locate if it becomes misplaced.
