Calmoseptine Ointment is a moisture barrier ointment that contains calamine, zinc oxide, menthol, and lanolin. Originally designed to treat diaper rash, Calmoseptine Ointment has successfully been used to treat incontinence sites, feeding tube site leakage, wound drainage, minor cuts and scrapes, minor burns, fecal or vaginal fistulas. Calmoseptine Ointment acts as a barrier to protect the skin and draw away moisture. by creating this barrier the Calmoseptine Ointment relieves discomfort and itching.

Directions for Calmoseptine Ointment
- Cleanse the skin with a mild skin cleanser or water prior to applying Calmoseptine. Gently dry or allow to air dry.
- Apply a thin layer of Calmoseptine Ointment 2-4 times daily, and after each incontinent episode or diaper change.
- When necessary, remove the Calmoseptine Ointment with baby oil or mineral oil.
For use around gastrostomy tube sites or suprapubic catheter sites that leak, apply the Calmoseptine Ointment twice daily. For use with peri-wound skin, apply a thin layer of Calmoseptine Ointment to the peri-wound skin at each dressing change. For an ostomy site, use only a small amount of Calmoseptine and rub it in completely. Hold barrier under the pouch in place for about a minute to increase the adhesion of the standard adhesive. Pouches with clear adhesion will not stick to peristomal skin when Calmoseptine Ointment is applied.
Contraindications for Calmoseptine Ointment
Do not use Calmoseptine Ointment on third degree burns, deep wounds, or puncture wounds. Avoid contact with eyes. If Calmoseptine Ointment is ingested, contact a physician or poison control center immediately.
