Hydrocolloid dressings are generally used for moderately exuding wounds. What makes hydrocolloid dressings unique is their soft, absorptive wafers that become gel-like over time to help with the healing process. Our selection includes ConvaTec's DuoDerm and Smith & Nephew's Allevyn brand.
The magic of hydrocolloid dressings is that they interact with any wound leakage to form a gel-like substance that aids in the healing process. Vitality Medical offers DuoDERM hydrocolloid dressings in a number of styles. These are made of hydrocolloid and often combined with flexible pieces of foam covering a cushioned, fleece-like material for maximum absorption and comfort. Our line of DuoDERM dressings includes border patches with an adhesive edge, as well as the general dressing that needs to be covered with another bandage. Our DuoDERM Signal Dressing CGF (Control Gel Formula) Hydrocolloid comes in various sizes, and is available in packs of five or six. These are most helpful in wounds with moderate amounts of exudation. The pattern in the center of the bandage will appear when the dressing needs to be changed. For stage one wounds, we carry the DuoDERM Extra Thin CGF Dressing. These dressings can be used as the primary dressing on relatively mild wounds, and can be worn for up to seven days. Depending on the gravity of the wound, it may be necessary for a more durable and or longer-lasting dressing. DuoDERM dressings are famous for the properties that enable them to handle varying amounts of fluid. Our trained representatives are happy to help you in deciding what dressings are best suited to your needs.
